PM Christmas Party

Our Christmas party was so much fun, I am doing a separate post for each class. The theme of our party was Santa's Helpers. Because there were so many good boys and girls this year, Santa needed some extra help. We learned how to do all the elf jobs. We made presents (which I hope you all love!) and then wrapped them. We filled a stocking and found all the mistakes the elves had made before the presents were delivered. Then we took a break and listened to an elf's favorite story "The Night Before Christmas". Then we did the most fun elf job of all -- decorating cookies!

When all the elf jobs were completed, we all received an "ELf present" for a job well done. Then we got to sing our favorite Christmas songs we have been practicing for our parents and Grandparents who came to listen.

Thanksgiving Feast

I'm a little behind in posting, so I will try to do better at keeping this blog caught up.
The Tuesday before Thanksgiving we had our "Thanksgiving Feast" at preschool. We learned all about Pilgrims and Native Americans, and made costumes to wear to our feast. For the feast we had Turkey Cookies, which we made, popcorn, and pretzels. It was a fun day and we learned a lot!

Turkey cookie that we made. We used frosting as glue and glued a nutter butter cookie to a fudge stripe cookie to make the turkey's body and tail feathers. We then glued on Chocolate chips for the eyes, a candy corn for the beak and a licorice nip for the waddle.

Halloween

We had a great time at our Halloween party at preschool! It was so fun to see all the different costumes. (And for the first time in 8 years, there were no Spiderman costumes!) Thanks to everyone who came to watch our parade. AM class is on the top and PM class is on the bottom.

Corn Maze Field Trip

At the end of Oct, we took a field trip to the Bluebell Corn Maze! We had a good time and no one "got lost!" It was a little chilly, but it didn't matter!

We are so excited for a brand new year of preschool! The first 2 weeks have been fun making new friends and seeing how much we know.
On day 1 we read the book "The Kissing Hand" and painted our very own kissing hands! We also met Mouse and found out what happens "When You Take a Mouse to School"! We have also been learning about friendship, the alphabet and colors.

I am so happy to be your child's teacher this year! We have a super group of kids in each class and I am excited to get to know each of them better.

Back to School Time

Summer is almost over! Can you believe it? I can't! Here is the back to school info. All of this was also sent home in a letter. If you haven't received it yet, you should shortly.
There are a few things your child will need to bring with him/her to school. The first is a paint shirt or smock. An old adult sized t-shirt will work great! This will protect your child’s clothing from all the fun art we will be doing. We will be painting on the first day of school, so make sure your child is prepared.
The second item is some sort of water bottle for your child to keep at school. This will make drinks more accessible and will eliminate paper cup waste. I will keep them clean and well stocked for your child.
I also suggest you send your child with a backpack or something to carry all their work home with them. They will have their own cubby to keep these in and it will make it easier to bring their work home to show you what they are learning.
When you send your child to school, please be sure he/she is dressed appropriately for play. We will have outside play each day, and your child will have a better experience if dressed comfortably.
If you haven't turned in your registration info, please do so as soon as you can. I need some of the info to get things ready for the new school year!
Tuition is $50 and is due by the 15th of each month. Late tuition is $55.
I will be holding a parents night on Thursday, Sept 1st at 6:00 p.m. This will be a chance for you to learn about your child’s school day and for me to answer any questions you may have. It will also be a great opportunity for your child to see his/her new classroom and meet the teacher before school starts.

Preschool graduation was a wonderful night! I am so proud of the students and how well they did. Sorry that these pictures are not very good. We had a fun year filled with lots of learning. Thank you so much for sharing your children so much! I love them so much and always feel like a piece of them belongs with me. I am excited for them to move on to Kindergarten and beyond; I know they will do great things!

Easter Egg Hunt

On Thursday, we had our Easter Egg hunt at preschool. Even though it was a little overcast and cold, we all still had a great time finding eggs!

Thank goodness the weather held out for us! Not long after the PM class finished their hunt, the skies just opened up and started pouring!

Fire Station Field Trip

We had a great time touring the Fire Station with "Firefighter Ryan". We learned a lot about what Firefighters do and also learned about Fire Safety.

Ryan taught us that matches are not toys. Kids should never play with matches or lighters, and if they find matches, they should tell a grown up.

Firefighter Ryan also dressed in his full gear to show the kids that even though firefighters may look sa little scary, if we are in a fire, we should not run away from them.

Most of the kids agreed that the best part of the day was getting to sit in the Fire Truck! At the end of the trip we took some great pictures of our class in front of the truck. AM class is on top and PM class is on the bottom.

A special Thank you to Ryan Clayburn for being so great and showing us how neat Firefighters are. Also thanks to Reagan's mom Amanda, Sara's mom Stacie, Callie's mom Vana, and Camden's mom Ami for coming with us.

Dinosaur Museum

We had a great time at the Vernal Dinosaur Museum! A big thank you to all the moms who helped both with rides and at the museum. You will never know how much I appreciate your support! We learned a lot about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Another big thank you to the museum staff for making our day so enjoyable!

Christmas Party 2010

We had so much fun at our Preschool Christmas party! It was great getting to be Elf Helpers and learning about all the jobs that the elves do to help Santa get ready for Christmas. We made toys (Santa Puppets), wrapped presents (to give to our parents; hope you liked them!), filled stockings, and decorated cookies! Then we found the presents those sneaky elves left for us outside in the yard!
I hope everyone is enjoying Christmas break and can't wait to see everyone again on Jan 4!!!

We had a great time at our Thanksgiving feast, and for the first time ever, all of my students attended! Yay! We made turkeys out of cookies and had some other fun "feast" foods! I hope your child told you all about it! Thanks again to all the moms who helped and who sent food that made our feast a success!

Corn Maze

What a fun day we had at the Bluebell Corn Maze. we played, explored, and learned a lot about cows. We even learned that our entire class together weighs as much as 1 baby cow!!! Thanks to Reagan's mom Amanda, Reese's mom Chasidi, and Pheonix's mom Sherri for helping out in the morning (and a special thanks to Chasidi for the pictures, since Miss Amy forgot her camera!). We have our date set for our corn maze field trip. We will be going on Tues, Oct 12. The morning class will need to meet at 8:30 and the afternoon class will need to meet at 12:00. Pick up will be 15 minutes early on that day. I will send a note home next week with all the information.

Back to School

School is almost here! I am so excited. I hope everyone received their back to school letter. Here are a few reminders for everyone. First, if I have not received your registration papers I ned them AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!! I cannot emphasize it enough. I have a hard time getting everything ready without any information on your child. Even if your child attended last year, I still need you to fill out the papers again.
Remember on the first day of school to bring a water bottle, a paint shirt, and a backpack. Also just a little FYI, I may be taking pictures of the students with their mom on the 1st day.
I am so excited for this upcoming school year and can't wait to get to know all the students.

Thank You to Addy's Grandma and my good friend Sil Phillips for this picture of graduation!
Graduation was a great night and we had a wonderful turnout! The Am class performed the play "The Little Red Hen" and the PM class performed "THe House That Jack Built". Thanks to all you wonderful families or all your support this past year. I've said it a million times, but I had the most supportive group of parents this year. It makes such a difference in the life of your child!
For those moving on to Kindergarten or other preschools, I will miss you, but I wish you the best and I know you will do great!
For those returning, See you on Sept 7th!

I'm sorry for a couple of things. First, some of the photo CDs didn't burn correctly. If you need a new photo CD, please let me know and I will get you a new one.
Second, I failed to take any pictures of graduation. If you have any you would like to share for the blog please send them to me at aguymon@ubtanet.com.
Also, if you have any input on the blog (if you read it, how to make it better, it was worthless, etc) please write a comment and let me know, so I can improve it for future years.

Last Week of School

Just a quick note about the last week of school. Tuesday, I would like BOTH classes to come at 9:00 a.m. for a joint program practice. Please COME TO PRESCHOOL FIRST! This is so important, because it is imperative that we run through our program together. After we have practiced we will walk down to the Park behind the Library. We will leave preschool at about 9:45. Any parents and siblings are welcome to join us at the park. If you would like to bring a treat to share, you can. I will provide juice boxes for all the preschool students. Pick up will be 11:15 at the park. Remember, DO NOT MEET AT THE PARK AT 9:00! In case of inclement weather, we will have a movie party at school instead.
Graduation will be at 5:00 in my backyard. There will be a light refreshment afterwards. The students have been working on different books all year long and are very excited to take them home. Your tuition balance must be all paid in order to take your child’s books home. Please pay this before graduation so I can credit you.
Thank You for all your support this past year. I have really enjoyed getting to know your child and watching all the children grow. We have had a super year! Please call with any questions.

Fire Station Field Trip

Finally here are the pictures from the Fire Station! Thank you to all the parents who came. We really had a great time! A very BIG thank you to Ryan Clayburne for doing the tour for us. He is really great! I hope you took the time to go through the pamphlets that were sent home and most importantly discussed Fire Safety with your child.

Easter Egg Hunt

We had a great time at our Easter egg hunt, although the weather was a little cool. We made little bunny baskets to put the eggs in that we found outside in our play yard. We also colored real eggs to take home. What a fun adventure!

Looking for Leprechauns

For our St Patrick's celbration, we had a "special visitor" to our classroom: Lucky the Leprechaun. He came into the classroom while we were outside playing. He sure left a mess of Leprechaun dust! We didn't catch him, but he left us a yummy snack of Leprechaun cookies and magical leprechaun liquid. This is our board with pictures of what we think that tricky leprechaun looks like.

We had a great time on our field trip to the Dinosaur Museum and we learned a lot! Thank You to the Moms who came with us! I hope you had a fun time too!

Dino Museum Trip Info

Our dinosaur museum trip to Vernal has been scheduled for the afternoon of March 11 (please note the change of dates). Both classes will meet at 12:00 that day. We need to be at the museum at 12:45. Pick up will be at 2:45. I am looking for 3-4 parents to help with transportation and supervision. If you are interested let me know ASAP. I do not mind you bringing your young children, but you will need to pay the admittance fee for them.

We had a great time at our Preschool Christmas Party! We had a special assignment from Santa to be "Elf Helpers". We spent the day doing "Elf Jobs". We mad a Santa puppet. because elves make the toys. We wrapped our gifts for our parents, because the elves wrap the presents. We decorated cookies, because the elves help Mrs Santa bake goodies for our stockings. Finally we played elf hide and seek and found the presents the elves left for us because we were such good helpers. The kids did so well in our Christmas sing a long. I hope you enjoyed out little show.

We had a great time at our Halloween parties on the 29th of Oct. We had a lot of snacks, so thanks to all the moms who sent us a treat! We danced the Monster Mash and had a Halloween parade in front of the school. It was a little chilly, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I loved seeing all the fun costumes and the kids had a good time showing them off.

Wow! I can't believe our first month of preschool is over. We have had so much fun getting to know each other! Here are pictures of our class.
Our morning class is Addy, Chloe, Casen, Randee, Oakley, Kaytlin, Zaylie, and Ian. Wyatt and Devin were gone the day we took the picture.

In our afternoon class we have Myley, Brooklyn, Krysta, Zayne, Kaydence, Sandy, Hudson, Callie, and Isabel. Elaina just joined our class so she is not in the picture.

Right now we are working on our cutting skills and also the correct way to hold our pencil when we write, so be sure to practice these skills at home!
